If I may wear my heart on my sleeve for a brief moment, I would like to share my thoughts with you.
I am not under the impression that the blog posts we share are overly entertaining. Most of the time it is informative or used to make a shout out to one of our awesome sponsors.
I am by nature a very private person, and keep a lot of things very close. It is not easy for me to be open with others, not to be confused with being honest :)
Currently my heart is sad. My heart breaks for a country and place that I love.
As we watch the news, we are worried for America and the safety of our nation against one of the most dangerous viruses of our time.
As Americans we worry about protecting ourselves from this terrible disease.
I am concerned for my country, its people, and my family.
My sense of peace comes from knowing that we understand the importance of sanitation, being quarantined when appropriate, and protecting ourselves against diseases. We have some of the best medical care and medicine available to us. Our children are taught everywhere to cough into their sleeves, how to properly wash their hands, and have the luxury to stay home when they are sick.
In an impoverish nation health education is often non-existent. Even if they understand the importance of health education, the lack of proper sanitation is a huge hurdle to over come on its own.
I worry for nations that share their water with animals, bathe in their drinking water source, and many times they do not have the choice of whether they get to stay home when they are sick.
Something many of us do not think about is with the lack of proper sanitation, comes the lack of indoor plumbing. They use the restroom in the trash dumps. These are the large areas of land where they take their trash to be burned once or twice a week. With this situation alone the spreading of ebola is at high risk since it is spread through bodily fluids. There is not a sewer system to flush away everything to a place where it is contained and disposed of properly.

Luckily, Ghana has not been hit with ebola like many of its neighbors, but I wonder how long until Ghana is overtaken by this terrible virus. I find myself wondering if the people who opened their heart and homes to my family are safe. If ebola is not contained and they do not find a way to stop it, will I get an email letting me know that someone we deeply care for has died from this ruthless virus?
Our hope was to one day return and visit.
Now this seems like something that will never happen.
I know there are so many causes where people can give their money.
We are not a large organization. We are not a household name.
We are full of heart, passion, and love. I want all of our donors to know that we appreciate everything you share with us;
your time, your money, and your heart.
I am asking you from the very bottom of my heart if you have not given, already donated, or thought about it, please do so now.
If you live in the Tulsa area, please go by Tulsa Braces and give so your donation will be doubled.
The Precious Child Foundation knows clean water gives life.
We know it changes lives. We know it empowers lives.
Now it will literally save lives more than ever.
