All I Want For Christmas...

How many of us have pictures of ourselves when we were kids sitting on Santa's lap?  If you were like me, you were crying in most of them.  In my family, we carried on this tradition with our children and share many laughs each Christmas season when we stroll down memory lane.

While each family has its own traditions, as a nation, American children enjoy the tradition of asking "Santa" for items from their mile-long wish list.  Kids have lots of different family traditions, but this one is such an iconic piece of American culture.  Many kids ask for big ticket items that most parents can only dream about affording, and after Christmas, they sit down and mentally recap all the toys and gifts they nearly went in debt for that will be forgotten when the wish lists start up all over again.

Imagine a scene where a child is led to Santa's lap.  This boy has no understanding about Santa's reputation for making Play Stations appear in play rooms.  He doesn't know that Santa has the power to bring X-Boxes, Beats, and Barbie Dream Houses to all the houses of good little boys and girls.  When Santa asks this boy what he wants for Christmas, the boys replies, "I want my own pair of underwear, some socks, and the stuff I need to fix my hair every day."  Santa would be speechless, no doubt, as we are, while our heads reel with the new perspective we now have about how much madness we really subject ourselves to on Black Friday.

Last year we collected items for three orphanges in Haiti.  We have the opportunity again to make a difference in the lives of these children.  So dust off your Santa hats, and let's get busy while we still have time.  This year, we will be taking donations to sponsor a child.  The cost to supply Christmas for a child in Haiti is $25.00.  This covers the following items; socks, underwear, a toothbrush, a few small gifts, candy, and hair items.  Can you imagine only spending $25.00 on our kids here in America, and them being overwhelmed with joy because they're getting their own pair of underwear for the year?

We want to raise enough money for 200 kids @ $25.00 each, plus enough to cover airline fees for the suitcases.  Let's pull together and make it the Merriest Christmas ever for these kids!  Thank you in advance for being a part of something that brings the truest meaning to the joy of giving.

The group of volunteers for Haiti will be taking the gifts the week of Thanksgiving. We are taking donations now so we can order the needed Christmas items in time for this trip. For more information please contact us at www.walkforwater.pcf@gmail.com or click on the link below to donate.
